Our Language Learning Approach
GETTING READY FOR A LANGUAGE STAY
Learning a language and getting immersed in a foreign culture need preparation. A successful language stay is always a well-prepared one.
The SVI — more particularly its educational team — organises predeparture training weekends that aim to prepare all the young people who are about to undertake this intercultural and linguistic adventure.
These weekends are organised monthly and welcome both former and future members. Together, we raise different topics, try to answer some practical questions, and give you some advice on culture shocks (both going to and coming from abroad), conflict management, stereotypes, security, luggage packing, etc.
And it’s completely free (food and accommodation included) for all our members!
Taking part in our predeparture preparation weekend will give you the tools for a successful language stay!

BACK FROM YOUR PROJECT
There are so many things you can do and set in place after a language stay! Why not try and go on a voluntary project abroad or take part in the local activities of the SVI? Why not attend one of our training programmes to become a team leader on international work camps and apply the language you’ve learnt to a concrete situation? Or why not join our weekly “Conversation Tables”? Or prepare an exceptional trip with other young people (e.g. Paris-Vladivostok on the Trans-Siberian)?
Visit our “Homecoming Training” and “Teamleader and Animator Training” pages to become aware of all the possibilities that lie ahead of you after a language experience abroad. It will be a good opportunity to think about how to value this new language knowledge.
All our activities are free for our members. So why hesitate?
