You’re back from abroad? You’re now fully familiar with all the tenses and irregular verbs in the language you went away learning? You want to share your adventures, mishaps, and anecdotes? You’d like to meet other young people to exchange on what you lived? How perfect! Our homecoming weekend is the opportunity for you to come and share your experience and think of how you can develop the language skills you acquired there.
WHERE AND WHEN DO HOMECOMING WEEKENDS TAKE PLACE?
Twice a year, the SVI organises meetings between all the young people who went on an adventure on the other side of the planet. Whether you went on a language stay or a voluntary project, we are happy to see you back and share some privileged moments with you again. These meetings take place in Tubize, Belgium (20 minutes away from Brussels), but also in Perpignan, south of France.
You can’t join us physically? Then just sign up for our online training modules or share your experience by videoconference!
The SVI also takes part in many conventions. If you wish, you can also join us there to share your experience with other people. We’ll be glad to see you again!
WHAT ARE THESE HOMECOMING WEEKENDS FOR?
We do invite you so that we can listen to your testimony, but not only! By going on a language stay, you became a member of our association. This membership does not only reflect your participation in a specific project but your whole involvement within the SVI.
During these three days, we will try to figure out with you what you are really interested in. What about a new language-related project? A voluntary experience? Becoming a moderator? A team leader? Taking part in our associative life? You can do anything! And we are here to support and encourage you in any of these initiatives.
We will also guide you into figuring out how to develop the experience and skills you acquired abroad for your future professional career. But again: not only! Those language skills can also be used through your associative commitment by taking part for example in a worker mobility programme. Indeed, as an SVI member, you can take part right away in a whole set of international mobility programmes related to diverse topics that gather young people from all of Europe. These meetings take place in English and are a perfect opportunity to practise, meet, exchange, and discover topics you are interested in. Click here for more information.
Our educational team — overseen by our educational seconded coordinator — has concocted a whole set of non-formal activities aimed at guiding you through your wants and needs.
But obviously, it is also — and mostly — a great opportunity to meet other former volunteers like you, to party, and to share a good time together!
AND HOW MUCH WILL THAT COST?
You’re an SVI member? Then it’s free! This training is included in your membership fees, that’s our commitment! Not a member yet? Then don’t hesitate anymore! You will be asked to pay 100€ as participation fees but these can be deducted if you decide to join us in the future…
